This residence was designed in response to a brief for a refined family home that combines timeless character with contemporary comfort. The client sought generous living spaces, strong indoor–outdoor connections and a relaxed sense of luxury, while maintaining a welcoming architectural style suited to its suburban setting.
The exterior draws inspiration from traditional Queensland homes, featuring crisp white weatherboards, broad verandahs, pitched roofing and carefully detailed balustrades. Dark charcoal cladding introduces contrast and gives the lower level a more contemporary presence, while stone retaining walls and structured landscaping provide texture and privacy.
Inside, the home adopts a calm, modern palette with light finishes, clean lines and subtle timber accents. Open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas create a practical central hub for everyday family life and entertaining. A dramatic stairwell, glass balustrades and feature lighting add a sense of openness and sophistication throughout the interior.
Outdoor living is a key focus of the design. Covered terraces overlook the swimming pool and landscaped gardens, creating a private retreat that can be enjoyed throughout the year. An integrated outdoor kitchen further supports entertaining, while the elevated upper verandah captures expansive views and natural breezes.
